MORGENLAND FESTIVAL OSNABRÜCK - SANAM

Vom 29.05. bis 06.06.2026 rückt das Morgenland Festival Osnabrück unter der neuen künstlerischen Leitung der iranischen Klarinettistin Shabnam Parvaresh das Thema „Stimmen der Diaspora“ ins Zentrum. Nach zwei Jahrzehnten interkultureller Pionierarbeit markiert diese Ausgabe einen bedeutenden Generationswechsel und fokussiert sich auf Kunstschaffende, deren Werke von Migrationserfahrung und kultureller Transformation erzählen. Einer von insgesammt 3 Acts die wir bei uns in der BOTSCHAFT begrüßen dürfen ist SANAM. SANAM ist ein sechsköpfiges Ensemble aus Beirut, das Elemente aus Psych/Krautrock, Improvisation/Skrunk, Elektronik, Gothic und Jazz mit traditionellem ägyptischem Gesang und moderner arabischer Poesie zu einer packenden Mischung aus großformatigem Hybrid-Avant-Rock verschmilzt. Entstanden aus der kreativen unabhängigen Szene Beiruts, besteht die Gruppe aus Sandy Chamoun (Gesang), Antonio Hajj (Bass), Farah Kaddour (Buzuq), Anthony Sahyoun (Gitarre, Synth), Pascal Semerdjian (Schlagzeug) und Marwan Tohme (Gitarren) – allesamt versierte Musiker:innen mit Verbindungen zu einflussreichen libanesischen Acts wie Kinematik, Postcards, Al Rahel al Kabir und Oviid. Gegründet nach einer Einladung zur Zusammenarbeit mit Hans Joachim Irmler (von den deutschen Krautrock-Legenden Faust) beim Irtijal Festival 2021, fand die Band ihre künstlerische Identität während eines Aufnahmeaufenthalts im ländlichen Libanon inmitten nationaler Turbulenzen. Translation (EN): From 29 May to 6 June 2026, the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück, under the new artistic direction of Iranian clarinetist Shabnam Parvaresh, places the theme “Voices of the Diaspora” at the center of its program. After two decades of intercultural pioneering work, this edition marks an important generational shift and focuses on artists whose work reflects experiences of migration and cultural transformation. One of three acts we will be welcoming at the BOTSCHAFT is SANAM. SANAM is a Beirut-based sextet that merges psych/kraut, improv/skronk, electronics, goth, and jazz elements with traditional Egyptian song and modern Arabic poetry in a compelling brew of widescreen hybrid avant-rock. Emerging from Beirut’s fiercely creative independent scene, the group features Sandy Chamoun (vocals), Antonio Hajj (bass), Farah Kaddour (buzuq), Anthony Sahyoun (guitar, synth), Pascal Semerdjian (drums), and Marwan Tohme (guitars)—each an accomplished musician in their own right, with ties to influential Lebanese acts like Kinematik, Postcards, Al Rahel al Kabir, and Oviid. Formed following an invitation to collaborate with Hans Joachim Irmler (of German krautrock legends Faust) at the Irtijal Festival in 2021, the band solidified its identity during a recording residency in rural Lebanon amid national turmoil.
